PROGRAMS

Scientists nationwide increase their involvement in education/outreach and Broader Impact activities by working with COSEE CA in the following ways:

Work on the Ocean Literacy Campaign to ensure that K-12 science standards include the essential principles and concepts of ocean sciences;
Teach the Communicating Ocean Sciences course to engage undergraduate and graduate students in education/outreach;
Use IT to connect your marine lab with middle school students in the 21st Century Classroom.
Let your students know about the Marine Careers website;
Use Education and Public Outreach: A Guide for Scientists (PDF, 1.97 MB), to learn about ways to engage in education and public outreach (EPO) activities, improve your Broader Impact statement, find partners, and help you communicate more effectively with the public.
For Scripps scientists, collaborate with existing education outreach programs (Word, 40 KB) at Scripps and Birch Aquarium.
