Interested in Education and Public Outreach?
Scripps partners have taken the lead in sparking and sustaining collaborations between and scientists and informal science educators that efficiently and effectively translate research into educational resources. We focus on customizing E&O plans to suit individual scientists’ interests, goals and availability and developing compelling broader impact components of proposals. The scientists we serve include graduate students and technicians in addition to faculty members and researchers. Two aspects of our approach – the catalysis of potentially powerful and long-lived liaisons between scientists and informal science educators, along with the custom-tailoring of scientists outreach contributions – distinguish COSEE California among its sister regional Centers.
Here are some additional resources to help engage scientists in education and public outreach (EPO). COSEE California has created this introductory flyer (662k .pdf), with information about EPO, as well as some ideas for bringing EPO into your research. Also, in collaboration with The Oceanography Society, COSEE has put together a 12 page guide for scientists wishing to learn how to take part in EPO. Please visit The Oceanography Society's website to find out more, or to download the guide.
